We are looking for a Bench Joiner

Envirotect specialise in the manufacture of high-end bespoke joinery for Radiation and RF shielding across a variety of sectors.  We are accredited to ISO 9001:2015, have CHAS Advanced accreditation and are a member of Made in Britain. Our accreditations and memberships help recognise our commitment to manufacturing, with our bespoke shielding products manufactured to the highest quality in our Bedfordshire based workshop.

We are looking to expand our team and have a position available for a dedicated and experienced bench joiner, but we would also consider a recently qualified joiner looking to further their career.

Skills:

  • Experience as a bench joiner.
  • Competent in the use of woodworking machinery, hand tools and power tools.
  • Ability to understand and work accurately to product drawings.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in measurements.
  • Problem-solving skills to troubleshoot issues during the manufacture process.
  • Good team skills and be able to work independently and assist others.
  • Be organised, tidy and manage time sensibly to meet deadlines.
  • Due to the nature of this job, you will be required to stand for extended periods of time, lift and manoeuvre heavy materials or equipment.
  • The cutting and assembly of aluminium and other metal components would also be an advantage.

Responsibilities:

  • Choose and prepare appropriate timber for each project, taking into consideration the quality and finish required.
  • Preparing and machining components to the product cutting list and drawings.
  • Setting out where necessary.
  • Operate woodworking machinery, including saws, planers, routers, and sanders, with a focus on safety and efficiency.
  • Manufacture and assembly of door-sets, windows, x-ray screens and cabinets.
  • Conduct quality checks on finished products to ensure they meet high standards of craftsmanship and adhere to the design specification.
  • Collaborate with other members of the production team to ensure effective communication and workflow.
  • Identify and resolve issues or challenges that may arise during the manufacturing process, finding solutions to ensure project completion.
  • Keep tools and equipment in good working condition by performing regular maintenance and reporting any problems.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to create a secure working environment for yourself and colleagues.
  • Safe and considerate driving of company vans.
  • Occasional site installation of products, liaising with main contractors including nights away.

A relevant vocational qualification in woodworking, carpentry, or joinery is preferred.
Apprenticeship or on-the-job training in woodworking is highly valued.
CSCS is preferred but not essential.
You must be numerate and literate.
Current clean driving licence required.
Own tools and drill/drivers required, all other power tools provided.

Competitive rates of pay dependent on experience and completion of probation period.

Full-time, Permanent position working from our workshop in Leighton Buzzard, Bedfordshire.  40 Hour week Monday – Friday.
