Maltese installation presents a challenge
A new department including two operating theatres at Gozo General Hospital has been fitted with lead shielding from Envirotect Limited.
Working in partnership with Maltese contractor Charles de Giorgio, Envirotect manufactured and installed lead shielding to the walls and flooring of the department that was inaugurated by Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi earlier this year.
In total, 11 door sets were manufactured and exported to Malta. They complement the existing hospital finishes and were supplied in a combination of sliding, single swing and double swing. Installation was more challenging than usual as the doors are electrically powered and required independent push pad controls. Safety barriers and fail-safe overrides were fitted to ensure the installation conformed to regulations.
