Servicing and provision of protective equipment continues uninterrupted
Like many companies, Envirotect has remained open throughout the COVID-19 pandemic to support the NHS, continuing with manufacture and installation of copper radiofrequency and enviroSteel® magnetic interference shielding protection for MRI scanners. RF tests and annual RF door inspections, servicing and repairs have been prearranged with trusts to ensure minimum inconvenience while following strict hygiene control and social distancing measures.
Envirotect managing director Niven Smith said: “Reading through recent reports it is clear that as a European-wide average, the UK is certainly one of the countries that has the fewest number of scanners per head of the population. This has become even more apparent during the outbreak.”
The company reports that hospital trusts across the UK urgently need more imaging equipment to deal with the backlog of scans due to the pandemic. “Since the outbreak deep cleaning procedures have been introduced between scanning patients, resulting in a reduction of capacity to an already overstretched system,” the company points out.
Envirotect have also provided radiation shielding to x-ray and CT rooms across the country throughout the pandemic. A complete package of radiation shielding is available including lead-lined panels for walls, ceiling and floor, door sets and observation windows. Shielding products can match existing colour schemes, while door finishes and observation window frames are durable and easy to wipe clean. A specially formulated glass cleaner for lead glass can be purchased that removes greasy finger marks, is smear free and is not harmful to the delicate face of lead glass.
